A 59-year-old domestic worker, was, on Thursday, remanded to prison for the murder of his reputed wife, Saskia Perreira.
Samuel Daniels called “Samuel Critchlow” of Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara (ECD), appeared before Magistrate Aiesha Alisha George at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court, charged for the capital offence.
He was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that between June 20 and 21, at Goedverwagting, ECD, he murdered Perreira.
Daniels was remanded to prison until July 26.
According to reports, on June 20, the couple had an argument, during which, it is alleged, Daniels armed himself with a knife and stabbed Perreira several times.
Perreira’s lifeless body was discovered with multiple stab wounds and bruises on June 21. Daniels was arrested and, under caution, reportedly confessed to the crime. He allegedly told police that he acted in self-defence.
