‘Buck Boy’ charged for birthday party murder

MARK Doliveira, who allegedly stabbed a man to death during an argument at a birthday party, on Thursday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, and was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Doliveira, also known as “Buck Boy”, of Shell Road, Kitty, Georgetown, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder, which states that between Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20, at Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, Georgetown, he murdered Kwal Dindon, called “Coolie Boy”.

According to the prosecution, the two had gotten into an argument, which later developed into a scuffle. Somehow, Doliveira managed to arm himself with a knife, and allegedly inflicted several stab wounds about Dindon’s body.

In trying to escape his assailant, Dindon ran into a nearby yard, but collapsed before he could go any further. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was admitted and later died while receiving treatment.

A post mortem examination revealed that he’d died of shock and hemorrhage, due to the severity of the stabs he’d sustained.

Doliveira was arrested and later charged.

The matter has been adjourned until Friday, July 16.
