THIRTY-YEAR-OLD Desmond James, on Tuesday, walked out of the Demerara High Court a free man, after spending the last six years on remand for murder.
James of Hotoquai Creek, North West District, appeared before Justice Navindra Singh and pleaded not guilty to the offence.
He denied that, on September 1, 2014, at 4 Miles Arakaka Backdam, in the North West District, he murdered 46-year-old Glendon Cox. The trial then commenced before a 12-member jury.

James’ lawyer, Mark Conway, made a no-case submission calling for the case to be dismissed.
Justice Singh ruled in favour of the no-case submission and directed the jury to return a verdict of not guilty.
Reports are that on September 1, 2014, Cox of Aberdeen, Essequibo Coast, was involved in an argument with a man at Four Miles, Arakaka, North West District, during which he was fatally stabbed.
James was subsequently arrested and charged with the capital offence.
