A TWENTY-SIX-year-old Superbet cashier was on Friday arraigned in court for allegedly stealing over $300,000, from her employer.
Nikeda Castello, of West Ruimveldt, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.
She denied that on October 5, 2021, at Laing Avenue, Georgetown , while being a clerk or servant at Superbet, she stole $300,726.
Police Prosecutor Christopher Morris told the court that on the day in question, Castello, who was employed as a cashier, was asked to balance the register. When this was done, it was noticed that there was a shortage of $300,726.
Castello, however, denied stealing the money. The matter was reported to the police and based on the investigation conducted, she was arrested and later charged.
Police prosecutor Morris did not object to bail. Castello was later released on $70,000 bail and told to return to court on December 3, 2021.
