A MAN, who was allegedly found with 100 grams of cannabis in a box, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, and was granted $70,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. Joshua Yhop, denied that on April 8, 2021, at Guyhoc access road, Georgetown, he had the cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking. It is alleged that on the day in question at about 12:00 hours, police on patrol duty saw Yhop and several males under a shed at the northern side of the road. They were approached by the ranks who identified themselves and requested that a search be conducted on Yhop’s person. At the time, Yhop was observed holding a yellow and red box. In his presence, a search was conducted on the box and a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems secured in several small transparent ziploc bags, suspected to be cannabis were discovered. Yhop was immediately told of the allegation and cautioned. He was later arrested and escorted to East La Penitence Police Station where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence. Further investigations were conducted and Yhop was charged.
