A 74-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) has succumbed to COVID-19 while receiving medical care, taking the total number of deaths thus far to 181.
In the past 24 hours, 18 new COVID-19 cases were recorded, which is one of the lowest figures since the beginning of the year.
According to the Ministry of Health’s daily COVID-19 dashboard, one of case was recorded in Region Three, 10 in Region Four, two in Region Five, and five in Region Six.
No new cases were recorded in Regions One, Two, Seven, Eight, Nine and 10.
Seven persons are currently patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 39 are in institutional isolation; eight in institutional quarantine, and 818 persons are isolated at home. These figures translate to a total of 872 active cases.
The ministry has recorded 7,026 COVID-19 recoveries to date, 49 of which were recorded within the past 24 hours.
All Guyanese are urged to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home, the importance of maintaining the six-feet physical distance from others, and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
