THE Ministry of Social Protection (MoSP) has announced that old age pension will, once again, be paid early with pension for July 2020 to begin on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Post Offices countrywide.
An alphabetical system, using surnames, will be employed for senior citizens to receive their payments during the first five payment days of the month at post offices in Regions Two, Three, Four, Five, Six and 10.
Surnames beginning with the letters A to D can uplift their pension on Monday, June 29; surnames beginning with the letters E to K are scheduled for Tuesday, June 30; surnames beginning with the letters L to P should collect their pension on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, the third payment day of the month; Surnames beginning with the letters Q to T are scheduled for Thursday, July 2 and those with surnames beginning with the letters U to Z on Friday, July 3.
The MoSP reminds that the alphabetical system will only be used during the first five payment days and that senior citizens will be allowed to cash their coupon/s on any day after the fifth payment day.
“The Ministry of Social Protection, in collaboration with the Guyana Post Office Corporation, continues to put measures in place to protect senior citizens and contain the spread of COVID-19 by curbing mass gatherings and ensuring social distancing is practiced at all times,” the ministry stated, adding:
“Persons visiting GPO’s Offices are asked to wear protective masks and sanitise their hands before entry. The public areas are also sanitised intermittently throughout the day.”
