Zeeburg defeat Rising Stars, MMZ in limited overs cricket

ZEEBURG Sports Club recorded back-to-back victories over the Rising Stars and Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) Sports Clubs over the weekend in limited-over cricket clashes at the Meten-Meer-Zorg ground.

In their first game, a T20 match against the Rising Stars, they batted first and raced to 181-8 with Malcolm Hubbard hitting a 35-ball 50.

Yutesh Dhanpaul supported with a 13-ball 33 and Ganesh Narine with a 10-ball unbeaten 24.

Rising Stars, in reply, were bundled out for 137 in 18 overs, with J. Hector scoring 41.  Hubbard, Dhanpaul and A. Seepersaud combined for six wickets.

Hubbard took 2-21, Dhanpaul 2-25 and Seepersaud 2-27.

Against home team MMZ, in a 10-over clash, Hubbard (24) and Richie Looknauth (21) led the visitors to 93-7 off their allotted over. Although Sheldon Alexander scored 21, the home team could reach only 70-6 in reply. Dhanpaul led the bowling attack with 3-5, while Richie Looknauth took 2-7.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, December 16, the Zeeburg SC will hold a Memorial cricket match for the Rocky Memorial Cup, in memory of former skipper Amreith Rai (Rocky). The game is set for a 10:00hrs start.
