WHEN the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) held its General Congress earlier this year at the Marriott Hotel in Georgetown and adopted its new constitution, the Beach Soccer and Futsal associations were added to the 22-member list. Today’s elections will be clinical for the development of the two formats of the game which have great potential if exploited and managed correctly.
While the GFF did not issue a release or name the persons in contention for the various positions up for grabs, Chronicle Sport was told through a source close to the contenders for the various positions, that veteran promoter Kashif Muhammad will be running for president of the Guyana Futsal Association.
According to the source, the Kashif and Shanghai director, whose organisation recently won the bid to be the Management Committee for the ongoing STAG Elite League, is expected to come up against former referee Otis James.
For the Beach Soccer Association, Rowland Tappin and manager of 704 Sports Bar and Night Club Dustani Barrow vie for the top spots.
Chronicle Sport could not ascertain who the other persons are for the other positions in both associations.
