Evicted spouse steals television from rescuer
STACY Allen, 20, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with simple larceny. Particulars of the offence said, on April 21, she stole one television, valued $70,000, property of Cleveland Whitehead.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendant was staying at Whitehead’s home and he had gone out. But, upon his return, he discovered his television and Allen missing.
Whitehead, who was present in court, said he took the woman into his home after his neighbour asked him to keep her for the night, because her spouse had put her out and he rescued her.
The virtual complainant said the following day, he had gone to work when neighbours saw the woman removing the television.
Allen (no address given) was put on $80,000 bail until April 30.
