Region Two drainage fully prepared for rains

– Baksh
CHAIRMAN of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Alli Baksh has appealed to stakeholders to pay more attention and place emphasis on the drainage and irrigation (D&I) network during the anticipated rainy season.

Speaking at an emergency meeting in the Anna Regina Regional Boardroom last Thursday, he also admonished workers in the D&I Department to show greater responsibility and be more observant.

Baksh pointed out that Region is agriculture based and farmers’ crops, livestock and residential areas must be protected.

He said operators should always open sluices on time and those working on the Agriculture Enhancement Programme have to weed and keep drains clear, in residential places, as well.

Baksh said, in cases of emergency, mobile pumps will be dispatched quickly to combat flooding situations.

According to him, the Region is fully prepared for the rains, in terms of drainage.
