Outreach clinics conducted in Amerindian communities

A GROUP of doctors from the Jamaica Army Medical Corps recently conducted outreach clinics at Kabakaburi, Akawini and Jacklow in Pomeroon River and Mashabo Amerindian community on Essequibo Coast.

The team, headed by Dr Haroon Basir, treated hundreds of children and adults for various ailments, member of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Feruese Basir reported.

The Councillor said another set of medical practitioners, led by paediatrician Dr Hardat Persaud and Dr Shanti Singh, of the National AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS) did similarly, specifically at Kabakaburi, where numerous children were attended and HIV/AIDS tests carried out.

Councillor Basir said children living in that mission also received gifts from diplomats at the Russian Embassy in Georgetown who were visiting the Amerindian community then.
