Kenrick James did an unlawful and dangerous act to George Adams, who died as a result thereof.
The State’s contention is that during an argument at the Phoenix Recovery Project drug treatment programme at Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara, the two men became involved in a row which resulted in a fight, during which Kenrick James is alleged to have committed the unlawful and dangerous act which resulted in George Adams receiving an injury to the left side of his chest, just below the armpit, and that resulted in his death.
On August 16, 2007, a post-mortem conducted by Dr. Nehaul Singh on the body of George Adams at the Georgetown Hospital Mortuary determined the cause of Adams’s death as a puncture wound to the left side chest, just below the armpit.
In fact, the accused gave a statement to the police admitting that he had struck Adams with a chair, causing the injury.
During his testimony, Dr. Nehaul Singh acknowledged that a wooden and steel chair like the one in court could have been used by the accused to commit the offence.
The trial is continuing before Justice Roxanne George and a mixed jury. The defence is being represented by lawyers Mr. Compton Richardson and Mr. A. Griffith.
