He explained that his son along with some other children and the virtual complainant’s children were at the complainant’s residence playing games when a cell phone belonging to her went missing, and she later accused his son of being a thief.
He said he advised the woman to assemble all the children who were present before the police to get to the bottom of the matter, but she blatantly refused and laid the blame solely at his son’s feet; and from time to time, she would come to his home demanding monies for her lost cell phone, and would continue to ignore his suggestion to properly investigate the matter.
The man added that, on the day in question, he got frustrated at her constantly accusing his son, and called her a ‘demon’. That obviously angered the woman, and a report was then made, leading to him being arrested and charged.
However, the complainant was not in court to contest the man’s story, and Prosecutor Joel Ali informed the Magistrate that she was a “known character” who habitually makes reports against persons in her community; but for some unknown reason, and to his knowledge, she never comes to court to offer any evidence.
Warde was then reprimanded, and the case against him was discharged.
