Newly appointed Judge addressed jurors in the Moseley murder trial

Defence counsel granted adjournment to Monday

NEWLY appointed Judge,   Justice Navindra Singh, yesterday addressed jurors of the October Criminal Session of the Demerara Assizes, telling them about the observation of the do’s and don’ts they must cultivate in order to operate effectively as jurors. The judge was addressing jurors empanelled to try murder accused Dexter Moseley for the alleged unlawful killing of Latchmin Kumari Abrams, said to have occurred between February 5 and 6, 2007.

State Counsel Mrs. Konyo Thompson, in association with Miss Renita Singh, has set out to prove through eight witnesses that the accused unlawfully killed Abrams.
But Moseley, represented by defence counsel Miss Latchmie Rahamat, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

A 12-member jury has been empanelled to try the case,   but on defence counsel’s application for an adjournment to Monday, because he had been retained only the day before, and wanted time to study the case, proceedings have been set to begin on Monday next at 9.a.m.
