FOLLOWING a miserable qualification on Friday afternoon in the USF 2000 series, overseas-based Guyanese Calvin Ming produced a confident drive to finish just shy of the final podium spot.
The season’s opening rounds (1 and 2) take place in St Petersburg Florida this weekend with the second race on today.
According to reports, mechanical and set-up issues had bothered the young Ming during Friday afternoon’s qualifying.
However, his team managed to rectify the issues before the race, giving Ming the chance to carve through the pack to finish fourth.
“Yeah, we had some issues throughout qualifying but the guys were able to sort them out before the first race and we were able to attack and pick up spots,” Ming told Chronicle Sport.
He continued, “I can’t say a big enough thank you to the guys at Pabst Racing who worked to get the car to a place where I can drive it and produce the result that I did today (yesterday).”
