Western Tigers climb to top of the Elite League table

… Fruta Conquerors needle Den Amstel 1-0

THE 5-2 drubbing of a seemingly hapless Cougars Football Club by Western Tigers, last Friday, resulted in coach Calvin Allen’s men not only keeping an unbeaten record, but also seeing them climb to the top of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) 10-team Elite League with 13 points from five outings.

Meanwhile, in the night’s second double-header, Fruta Conquerors grabbed an important three points following their 1-0 win over Den Amstel thanks to Jahaal Greaves’ 27th minute goal.
Action will continue today.

Milerock United will play New Amsterdam United in the first game at 17:30hrs and the second match will bring together defending champions Guyana Defence Force and Victoria Kings.
In the first match today, New Amsterdam United, yet to pick up a win, will be looking to score points in order to break their drought so far.

The GDF will also be looking forward to tough matches, prior their departure for the Caribbean Shield. In one match they should be challenging point-leaders Victoria Kings.
Admission to all matches is $500 but all women and children under 12 years of age will be admitted without charge, according to the GFF.
