MORE ex-national and masters players are needed in the football fold, former national captain Ken Gibbs believes. During an interview with Chronicle Sport, the former midfielder, who is hosting a Masters game on Sunday at the GFC ground, Bourda, contends that these players need to be kept in the fold to pass on their knowledge.
“I feel they can be placed in the position where they can be given the opportunity to try to enhance the performances of the present players and foster relationships with coaches,” he said.
Gibbs, who was the national captain for eight years from 1970, also represented the Caribbean twice, once against English side Hull City and another against an English amateur team side.
He has benefited from a scholarship in Mexico and was a coach with the National Sports Development Council.(NSDC)
The former Thomas United player is hosting a breakfast and football match on Sunday at the Georgetown Football Club.(GFC).
Starting at 09:30hrs, the Ex-Nationals will play a Masters XI following breakfast.
Gibbs is a frequent visitor to his homeland.
