IN order to add flavour to Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations, Hits and Jams Entertainment is partnering with McNeil Enterprises to promote a spicy reggae concert dubbed, “50 Shades of Reggae”.This mega concert is slated for the National Park next Friday, and features the King of ‘Lovers Rock’, Beres Hammond, whose experience on the stage would be complemented by his compatriot, Christopher Martin.
And, cognisant of the need at this time to utilise home-grown talent, Hits and Jams and McNeil’s have included several local performers on the night’s programme.
The taste of 50 Shades of Reggae would also be influenced by preliminary acts, the likes of Tameka Marshal, Lisa Punch and Tennecia De Freitas.
Hammond, whose stage cry of `Family’ is a welcomed feature at concerts, comes to Guyana with a wealth of experience.
He has been in the reggae business for over four decades, and is armed with such hits as `I Could Beat Myself’, `Rockaway’, `What One Dance Can Do’, `Sweet Lies’, `She Loves Me Now’ And `No Disturb Sign’ among others.
Martin, who will turn 30 next Valentine’s Day, is considered to be the next in line for Hammond’s throne.
Blessed with a soulful voice, Martin is equipped with such hits as `Cheater’s Prayer’ `Paper Loving’, and the heart-stopping `Mama’.
Ticket prices are $3,000 for early bird, $4,000 regular and $15,000 for VIP stage front, and are available at White Castle, Gizmos & Gadgets, Exclusive Styles, The Spot Fish Shop BV, Nigel’s Supermarket, Ashmins, Andrew’s Supermarket, King’s Jewelry World, Matt’s Record Bar, Clairan’s, Giftland Department Store, KK Gas Station, and Digicel – Linden & Parika.
