Defendant in wife threatening case granted $10,000 bail

O’NEIL Chalmers was ordered to post $10,000 bail when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, on Thursday, charged with threatening his reputed wife, Dawn Grey. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said it was committed on July 21 when he made a gesture to the virtual complainant in their West Ruimveldt, Georgetown home.
Chalmers claimed he remonstrated with Grey over the conduct of someone else who is staying in the house and she responded by saying she was going to put him away where his family would never see him again.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, told the Court the wounds on the body of Chalmers resulted from him hitting a glass window but he is usually abusive to Grey.
The woman added that, when the defendant started to behave in that manner, she had to run to the Police Station.
The case will be called, again, on September 16.
