Dairy Bar murder trial continues

– star witness says may have made a mistake with height of accused
ANMALISA Caesar, the star witness in the Dairy Bar murder trial yesterday admitted before the trial judge and jury that she might have made a mistake in relation to the height of the accused Seon Yaw, who allegedly shot the security guard, Noel Jones.
Yaw is on trial before Justice William Ramlal and a mixed jury for the murder of Security Guard, Noel Jones.

Jones allegedly was shot to death by one of three men who invaded the Dairy Bar  premises in South Road on the night of December 6, 2006 and ordered the employees to lie on their bellies.
Caesar said that while they were lying there, two shots rang out, and later the security guard was found dead.
Caesar, who testified that she knew all that happened that day, said that she had seen the accused that night, and declared that he was standing behind her. She said that Yaw was about five feet 3 inches tall.
However under cross-examination by defence counsel, Mr. Bernard De Santos, SC, Caesar denied a suggestion that the accused was not the man she saw that night since he was far taller than the man she saw.
At this stage Mr. De Santos applied to the court for permission to have the height of the accused measured by a tape. This was agreed. The accused was permitted to leave the dock, where he was measured by the marshall and was found to be five feet 10 ½ inches.
At this stage the witness explained that she might have made a mistake in relation to the height of the accused.
State Prosecutor Miss Shivani Balcharan said she hopes to call 10 witnesses.
The trial continues today before Justice William Ramlal and the jury.
