- four large farms and makeshift camp uncovered at Kuyarakuru Creek and Sabina Point
RANKS of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), on Wednesday, conducted a joint eradication exercise at Kuyarakuru Creek and Sabina Point, located in the Upper Berbice River area.
The operation, which lasted from 04:00 hrs to 18:30 hrs, was led by gazetted officers and involved ranks from the Narcotics Branch and Regional Division #6.
During the exercise, police ranks discovered four separate cannabis farms spanning approximately 16 acres. The farms contained an estimated 95,000 cannabis plants, ranging from two to seven feet in height.

In addition to the cultivated plants, the ranks also uncovered a makeshift camp measuring 30 by 20 feet, which housed approximately 90 pounds of dried cannabis.
All the cannabis plants, dried cannabis, and the camp were destroyed by fire at the location.
According to police estimates, the total street value of the narcotics destroyed amounts to approximately GYD$70,968,116. Of that figure, the cannabis plants are valued at GYD$32,186,000, while the dried cannabis carries an estimated value of GYD$38,782,116.
No arrests were made during the operation, but investigations are ongoing as the Guyana Police Force continues its efforts to disrupt illegal drug cultivation and trafficking networks across the country.
The GPF has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and combating narcotics-related crimes, particularly in remote areas where such illicit activities are often concealed.
