Region Two RDC celebrate women

WOMEN in Region Two were on Friday reminded of their dominant role in society at a specially organised International Women’s Day activity hosted by the Regional Democratic Council (RDC).

While delivering remarks, Regional Chairperson Vilma De Silva urged the women who were present to discover their passion and dedicate their energies to bringing about positive change in society.

The RDC, she added will continue its work through community outreaches to support and empower women.

Meanwhile, retired headmistress, Judy Lall in her remarks, said women continue to break stereotypes in society walking alongside men.

“Women must be fully involved if we want to see progress [and] a world where a difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality,” the guest speaker said while highlighting women’s roles in the business sector and other areas that are usually dominated by men.

Further extending women’s day greetings was President of the Men on Mission (MOM) and Regional Vice-Chairman Humace Oodit.

He said that despite many challenges, women continue to occupy leadership roles in all sectors across the country.

“Women rights are human rights and I want to congratulate all of you for your outstanding works. We have women in this region that hold very distinct position” Oodit said.
