WITH the aim of capitalising on the country’s economic boom and giving back to Guyanese through job creation, the Sheriff Construction Company is poised to transform its operation by acquiring 100 state-of-the-art 2023 Howo NX 6×4 dump trucks from Elite Peak Inc.
Speaking with the Sunday Chronicle, the owner of Sheriff Construction Company, Ameir Ahmad said, “2.5 billion dollars is a major investment, but in my opinion, it shows our dedication, Sheriff’s unwavering dedication to our nation, and the development of our resources so that we can help with the larger initiatives that are still to be undertaken.”
According to him, with this type of investment, Sheriff Construction is poised to completely transform its operational capabilities.
“These trucks are equipped with state-of-the-art features and are known for their superior performance. Like every investment, we need to ensure that we are wise about what we are investing in. We must think about the pros and cons for ourselves, but, more importantly, we need to ensure that we consider the ways in which it will benefit our country and its people,” Ahmad related.
With the continuous expansion of Guyana’s economy, he added, “I have continuously said that even though President Ali and his government are doing an exceptional job by creating job opportunities for Guyanese, especially the young people, we have to also remember that they cannot move the country forward alone. As a part of the private sector, I know that we need to, and can do, more for our economy.

“Let us take a moment to consider all that is currently happening in the world, all the unpleasantness that people are being faced with, and look at us. We are living in a country that is developing at a rapid rate, a country where all the sectors are blooming, a country where we have a leader for all of its people. Of course, the aim is to make money with these large investments, but we are also contributing to other people’s development as well. How can we not support that?”
Furthermore, Ahmad pleaded with his fellow private investors to invest in the nation and its people by providing employment opportunities for them.
“That is essentially the core driving force behind Sheriff Companies, and it is one of the key reasons we invest because we are proud of the fact that we are advancing Guyana’s growth and adding to the legacy of development in the country.”
He added, “In addition to improving operational effectiveness, this large-scale fleet addition for Sheriff puts the business in a better position to take on even more challenging projects in the region, and these trucks are set to be delivered in phases, starting in December 2023 and concluding in December 2024.”
The strategy, according to him, is to ensure that there is a smooth integration of assets into the company’s operation, which will guarantee their optimal use across a diverse range of projects.
Meanwhile, the Director of Projects at Sheriff Guyana, Hayma Singh, told the Sunday Chronicle that, “this investment signifies a monumental leap forward for Sheriff Construction. These trucks represent more than just vehicles; they are a testament to our unwavering dedication to delivering world-class construction solutions.”
