SHERWIN Clarke, called ‘Hot Skull’, who was on trial for the 2016 murder of 76-year-old David Ramkissoon, on Tuesday, pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.
When he appeared before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the Demerara High Court for the continuation of his trial, he threw himself at the mercy of the court and opted to admit to manslaughter.
The charge was re-read to him and he confessed to unlawfully killing Ramkissoon on August 21, 2016, at his Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) house.
Justice Kissoon then directed the 12-member jury to return a formal guilty verdict against Clarke for manslaughter.

The case will be called again on June 30, when a probation report in favour of Clarke will be presented before the sentence is handed down.
Clarke was represented by attorney-at-law Damien DaSilva, while the state was represented by prosecutor Muntaz Ali.
According to the prosecution’s case, on the day in question, the victim was at home when Clarke along with others invaded the building and robbed him. During the robbery, his throat was slit.
The matter was reported to the police after relatives returned from the creek and discovered Ramkissoon’s body.
In April, Clarke’s co-accused, Godfrey Gill called ‘Chucky’, was sentenced to 11 years’ imprisonment by Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
