GUYANA Harpy Eagles pulled off a thrilling victory over Barbados Pride on the final day of play in their Regional Four-Day clash at the Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad and Tobago, yesterday.
Harpy Eagles needed 68 from the final 13 overs and slipped to 46-5 in 9.1 overs until first-innings hero Tagenarine Chanderpaul smashed 23* from ten balls to seal the sensational five-wicket victory with one over to spare.
SUMMARY: Guyana Harpy Eagles 490-7 decl. (Tagenarine Chanderpaul 140*, Gudakesh Motie 110, Tevin Imlach 53; Akeem Jordan 3-108, Raymon Reifer 2-37) & 71-5 (Chanderpaul 23*, Leon Johnson 14*, Keemo Paul 10; Jordan 4-31) beat Barbados Pride 266 (Shai Hope 119, Shane Dowrich 44, Reifer 29; Veerasammy Permaul 4-81, Motie 2-37, Keemo Paul 2-37) & 291 (Kraigg Brathwaite 111, Shayne Moseley 48, Reifer 27, Dowrich 24; Paul 4-90, Nial Smith 3-76, Motie 2-35) by five wickets

Pride started the day 44 without loss, still needing 180 more to make Eagles bat again, and the Test duo of Shayne Moseley and Kraigg Brathwaite extended that stand to 84 when Moseley became Nial Smith’s first victim for 48 (9×4) from 85 balls.
A slight stutter saw Pride slip to 150-4 as International players Shamarh Brooks (13), Shai Hope (4), Roston Chase (15) all went cheaply.
Raymon Reifer (27) and Brathwaite stabilised the innings with a 47-run stand until Veerasammy Permaul dismissed Reifer.
Keemo Paul then produced an inspired and aggressive spell of fast-bowling to rattle Pride and swing things back in the Eagles’ favour.
He peppered the Barbadians and even broke the 50-run stand between Pride’s most experienced pair of Brathwaite and Shane Dowrich.
The Test skipper managed to reach his 27th first-class century and stretched it to 111 (16×4) from 241 balls – the pillar of Pride eking out a 67-run lead.
Paul ended with 4-90 while Smith who started the slide took 3-76 and Gudakesh Motie 2-35.
With both Pride and Trinidad & Tobago Red Force losing their third-round matches, it leaves the title open for the taking.
Harpy Eagles will head to Diego Martin where they will play Jamaica Scorpions from May 25 then Red Force on June 1 at the Oval.
