COMMISSIONER of Police (ag), Clifton Hicken, said that the Guyana Police Force (GPF) was pushing for the resuscitation of scout groups in all regions across Guyana.
To that end, he met with Chief Commissioner of the Scouts Association of Guyana, Andrew Ramcharritar, and Assistant Scout Coordinator, Sergeant Argile.
The Top Cop said that every effort must be made to revamp existing scout groups and establish new police scout groups in all 12 of the Regional Police Divisions across Guyana.
Hicken said that the skills acquired through the Scouts Association will benefit the youths, by making them more marketable and aid them in gaining positive employment.
The anticipated revamped Police Scout groups will attract and enable youths (both males and females) from all communities to acquire knowledge and the skills needed to develop themselves into good citizens, while effectively addressing the challenges that currently exist in their respective communities.
Hicken urged Ramcharritar and Sergeant Argile to ensure that there are weekly activities being conducted by scout groups.
In addition, the Top Cop emphasised the importance of scout members wearing appropriate attire and uniform.
Ramcharritar has assured the Police Commissioner (ag) that he will work alongside the Police Commanders in all divisions to have representation in all regions.
