BHOLAWRAM Deo emerged as the overall winner of the House of Majesty-Beacon Ministries golf tournament, which was held on Saturday last at the Lusignan Golf Club.

The 66-year-old finished with a net 68, stemming from a gross score of 89. He made 43 on the front nine and 46 on the back nine with four pars.

For his exploits, the seasoned golfer also won the 19-and-over handicap division. He was described by his playing partner, Chilean Ambassador H.E Juan Miguel, as ‘a most consistent golfer’.

A number of other golfers did well, including former Guyana Open 10-time winner, Avinash Persaud, who finished with the best gross score and as the longest-drive winner.

Reigning Guyana Open female champion, Shanella London, was also outstanding. She won the 0-9 flight after a countback from club captain, Patrick Prashad. Former Guyana Open champion Mike Mangal finished third in the top flight.

In the 10-18 handicap division, Bridgelall Harry won ahead of David Harry and A. Shaw on the podium, while in the 19-and-over division, Jordi Pinol finished second to Deo with Chet Bowling placing third.

Veteran golfer Maurice Solomon finished fourth.

The nearest to the pin award was won by Patangilee Persaud.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Guy Griffith spoke on behalf of the sponsor and paid homage to the driving force behind the House of Majesty, Pope Emanuel London.

Griffith also thanked the LGC for the opportunity to sponsor the event, while he reminded the members and attendees that Beacon Ministries has been sponsoring tournaments since 2013 and is fully committed to continue for years to come.
