JUNIOR France, called “Bora” was, on Tuesday, found guilty of the 2020 fatal shooting of a 17-year-old gold miner.
The 12-member jury, after deliberating for two hours, returned with a guilty verdict for the lesser offence of manslaughter, even though France was on trial for murder.
France’s case was tried before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow, at the Essequibo High Court.
The now-convicted man will return to court on April 11, 2022 for the reading of a probation report followed by his sentencing.
Prosecutor Tiffini Lyken presented the State’s case while attorneys-at-law Nigel Hughes and Ronald Daniels are on record for the accused.
According to reports, on May 17, 2020, Jerrick was shot and killed by France, who is a licensed firearm holder.
According to reports, Jerrick was loitering in front of France’s shop located at Puruni Landing, Mazaruni River, when the businessman opened fire at him.
