… Priyanna Ramdhani wins Women’s Badminton All-Conference award

NARAYAN Ramdhani copped the prestigious Male Badminton Player-of-the-Year award when the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) announced its annual top performers this week.

His sister, Priyanna Ramdhani, was selected as one of five players to receive the Women’s Badminton All-Conference award.
According to information from ACAC, the King’s University student, Narayan, “came out of the gates with a strong showing in the first interlock of the season held at The King’s University”.

Narayan defended home court by winning both mixed doubles with Abigail Ledda and the singles. In the second interlock of the season, Narayan once again paired with Ledda to win the mixed doubles battle.
The fourth-year student narrowly missed repeating as singles champion when he came up short against Smit Patel (NAIT).

This will mark the third consecutive season that Narayan is named to the All-Conference team, and will be his first as the ACAC Male Badminton Player-of-the-Year.

PASSION AND DEDICATION
“Narayan’s passion and dedication to the sport have been evident from day one,” the ACAC noted on their website. “Narayan was determined to bring King’s a championship this season. Even during an extremely difficult season with COVID-19 restrictions and a great personal lost, Narayan’s focus has never wavered. We are so proud to see how he helps his teammates during practices and how much they love and respect him in return.”

Narayan and Priyanna (from Old College) will both represent their schools at the ACAC Badminton Championship (Provincials) which will be played this weekend at Olds College.

This tournament is also the qualifier for Nationals to select a team to represent Alberta Colleges at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (Nationals) which is also scheduled to be played during this month.
