LLOYD Narian, who was on trial for the 2020 murder of a man, on Tuesday left the courtroom a free man after Justice Jo-Ann Barlow upheld a no-case submission made by his attorney.
Narian was on trial at the Suddie High Court and had denied that on March 6, 2020, in the county of Essequibo, he murdered Leland Couchman.
After state prosecutor Tiffini Lyken closed her case on Tuesday, Narian’s attorney, in a no-case submission, called for the indictment to be dismissed on the grounds of insufficient evidence.
The judge later upheld the submission and stated that the state had failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused for the offence of murder. She then ordered the jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty.
