A MIXED 12-member jury was, on Monday, empanelled before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow, at the Essequibo High Court, for the trial of Junior France called “Bora”, who allegedly shot and killed a 17-year-old gold miner in 2020.

France, formerly of Tabatinga, Region Nine, pleaded not guilty to the indictment which read that, on May 17, 2020, in the county of Essequibo, he murdered Dane Jerrick.

The State is being represented by prosecutor Tiffini Lyken while attorneys-at-law Nigel Hughes and Ronald Daniels are on record for the accused.

The trial will commence on March 3, 2022.

According to reports, Jerrick was shot and killed by France, who is a licensed firearm holder.  According to reports, Jerrick was loitering in front of France’s shop located at Puruni Landing, Mazaruni River, when the businessman opened fire at him.
