ACHIEVERS Youth and Sports Club U21 team won the inaugural Brentnol Woodford 15-Over Four-Team Memorial competition, which was played at the Bush Lot ground on Sunday.
The event that was organised by Achievers and the West Berbice Cricket Association honoured former cricketer Woodford, who died at the age of 29 in January of 2022, while seeking treatment for cancer in the USA.
The avid cricketer, who worked as a police officer, played for several teams over the years, including Rainbow Generation team, Bush Lot team, Berbice Police team, West Berbice First Division team and, due to his outstanding ability, he was also selected for the West Berbice Franchise team.
Last Sunday, four teams, including two from Achievers (Senior team and U21), along with Bush Lot United and Police, competed in his honour.
