A 21-year-old man, on Monday morning, was arrested at Kaneville, East Bank Demerara (EBD) with an unlicensed firearm and matching ammunition under a pillow in his girlfriend’s bedroom, police have confirmed.
According to Police Headquarters, law enforcement ranks from the Golden Grove/Diamond Police Station visited Hammerhead, Kaneville, EBD and several persons who were gathered immediately began dispersing.
Police at the scene were able to identify the 21-year-old man of Albouystown, Georgetown, who ran into his girlfriend’s Third Field Kaneville, EBD house.
The ranks gave chase and made contact with his girlfriend at the door and requested to carry out a search in the house and such was granted.
She then led the ranks to her bedroom where the 21-year-old was seen lying on the bed. A search of the bedroom, in their presence, unearthed one .32 pistol and two live rounds of ammunition under the pillow on the bed.
They were both told of the allegation, cautioned, arrested and escorted to the Grove Police Station, where the suspected firearm and ammunition were lodged.
They are in custody pending charges.
