OFFICERS of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) have, over the years, shown strong dedication to their mandate of serving and protecting the people of Guyana, going above and beyond the call of duty to provide professional and efficient service to Guyanese.
This is the type of dedication shown by the force’s 2021 Best Cop, Sergeant Moalchand Jadunandan.
His work was acknowledged on Thursday, at the Guyana Police Force’s annual Christmas awards ceremony.
Jadunandan, who hails from the Cinderella County, Essequibo, said that he had always dreamt of becoming a police officer and, as such, made it his daily mission to remain hardworking and discipline.
The father of three expressed his elation, saying: “I am very happy to be the Best Cop in the Guyana Police Force for the first time.”
Sergeant Jadunandan serves in Regional Division Four ‘C’ and is currently the subordinate Officer-in-Charge of the Golden Grove Traffic Department on the East Bank of Demerara.

For his outstanding performance through the year, along with the title of “Best Cop,” Jadunandan was also rewarded with $150,000 from the Queens Way Security Service and a trip for two to Arrowpoint Nature Resort and the Kaieteur Falls, compliments of Roraima Airways.
The Best Cop was also the best-performing cop for his division and was rewarded with an additional $100,000 and a trophy. Jadunandan has been a rank of the GPF since 2008 and serving as an accident investigator for the past 14 years.
When asked what future plans he has, Jadunandan said that he intends to not only continue providing the exceptional services he has in 2021, but also plans to create innovative ways to improve his operations in the GPF.
Further, he related that he intends to further his studies in the near future. He also intends to assist other ranks to enhance their abilities to provide to the public with critical services.

Supporting Jadunandan’s mission of improved service to the GPF was this year’s runner-up Best Cop, Sergeant Komal Pitama, who has been a member of the police force since 2005. On Thursday, he was awarded $100,000 and a trophy for being the Best Cop for his division.
Pitama who is stationed in Regional Division 10, managed to cop the Best Cop title three times before and said that he was proud to be considered for the title of 2021’s runner-up Best Cop.
Pitama related that he believes he has a calling for the profession and said that he intends to continue working strategically to achieve his goal of protecting and serving the people of Guyana.
“Since I joined the Guyana Police Force, my aim is to ensure that justice prevails and that is my aim to ensure people get the justice they need and I have a zeal and zest to go after criminals,” Pitama said.
