Ex-con accused of stealing glass windows remanded

CHIEF Magistrate Ann McLennan on Wednesday remanded a 45-year-old ‘B’ Field Sophia resident to prison for simple larceny.

An unrepresented Rudolph Nurse, a labourer, was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, and denied that on November 15, 2021, at Akawini Street, Section ‘K’, Campbellville, he stole seven pairs of sliding glass windows valued $450,000, property of Abdool Zaheer.

The police prosecutor objected to Nurse being released on bail, given the nature of the charge.

As such, he was remanded to prison until December 13.

The Guyana Chronicle was made to understand that as recently as last year, Nurse was arraigned in court for the simple larceny of a quantity of beverages and two gas bottles from a man.

Back in 2013, Nurse was convicted for break-and-enter and larceny, and was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment.
