DeNobrega, Levius stop Haiti to remain unbeaten at COTECC/ITF U-12 Tennis tournament

THE Guyanese pair of Nathan DeNobrega and Elwyn Levius were able to keep their unbeaten streak going at the COTECC/ITF U-12 Tennis tournament in The Dominican Republic, following their impressive win over Haiti yesterday.

Both players won their match in straight sets, with Levius defeating Marvens Bazanne 6-4, 6-2 and DeNobrega winning 6-2, 6-1 over Johnsley Bazanne.

The two players are being guided by Coach Shelly-Daly and president of the Guyana Lawn Tennis Association Cristy Campbell said with the long-serving tennis coach by their side, she’s optimistic of the pair’s continued success in today’s matches against the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“I am closely following the tournament from afar…Coach Shelly is constantly updating us on the matches and we are all rooting for them,” Campbell told Chronicle Sport.

The GLTA president said she’s aware of the players’ potential and the results thus far are reflective.
Guyana had opened their run for glory at the Central American and Caribbean Tennis Confederation (COTECC) tournament with an imposing victory over Barbados.

The tournament, which concludes on October 2, is featuring some of the best U12 players in Latin America and the Caribbean.
