JOSHUA Butts of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, East Berbice, died on Monday, after he lost control of his car, which ended up in a trench on Warren Public Road, East Coast Berbice.

Police said the accident occurred at 03:30hrs. The 21-year-old was, at the time, driving a Toyota Premio with registration PTT 7891.

Reports indicated that Butts was seen driving west along the southern side of the road when he appeared to have lost control of the car and subsequently plunged into a nearby trench located on the southern side of the road.

Butts was taken out of the car by public-spirited citizens and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries but eventually succumbed.

Police said investigations are ongoing.
