Make-up artist, hairdresser among trio arrested in wedding house robbery

A HAIRDRESSER, a make-up artist and a taxi driver were arrested on Sunday, after allegedly stealing from six persons at a wedding house at La Union, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
The suspects were identified as a 27-year-old female, a 28-year-old male and a 33-year-old male taxi driver.

Police said the items stolen included: two A52 cellular phones valued $260,000.00; one S8 cellular phone; one G-Shock watch valued $70,000; one gold chain valued $ 50,000; one silver chain valued $15,000; $600.00 Barbados dollars; one Apple watch valued $95,000.00; one Samsung S9 cellphone valued $180,000; one Samsung S8 cellphone valued $180,000; and US$275.

The victims were identified as a 49-year-old painter of La Union, WCD; a 29-year-old carpenter of Linden; a 28-year-old Barbadian female; a 24-year-old male of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo; a 53-year-old businessman of La Union WCD; and 30-year-old US-based Guyanese woman.

Reports indicated that all the victims were attending a wedding ceremony at La Union, WCD and they are all relatives staying at the said address with their personal belongings in different rooms.

Police said that during the celebrations about 15:00 hours on Sunday, the victims and other family members went to the groom’s residence at Stewartsville, West Coast Demerara.
At that time, the two suspects who were hired to do hair and makeup were left at the home.

About 16:20 hours, the victims returned home and about 20 minutes later both of the suspects left the house.

About 18:00 hrs the victims went to their rooms where they observed the afore-mentioned articles missing.
The suspects, along with the taxi driver who transported them were invited back to the home, where they were all arrested and placed into custody as investigations continue.
