Lusignan Prison clerk charged with ganja trafficking

A 22-year-old Data Entry Clerk was on Thursday released on $50,000 after he denied having a quantity of cannabis in his possession while at the Lusignan Prison.
Joshua Sookdeo, of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Vigilance Magistrates Court and denied that on June 8, at the Lusignan Prison, East Coast Demerara, he had 80 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Magistrate Azore released Sookdeo on $50,000 bail, and the case has been adjourned until July 8, 2021.
According to reports, on the day in question, the suspected cannabis was allegedly discovered in an ‘Ensure’ bottle in Sookdeo’s haversack after he was subjected to a mandatory search.
