A pedestrian, identified as 36-year-old Devanand Persaud, of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, is the second victim of an alleged hit-and-run accident in the space of two days on the Mon Repos Public Road.
Police reports indicate that on Sunday, around 19:25hrs, Persaud was attempting to cross the thoroughfare when a motor vehicle, the particulars of which are unknown, struck him.
The hit caused the victim to fall onto the road surface, receiving injuries about the body. He was picked up in an conscious state by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted a patient suffering from injuries to the head.
Police are investigating the incident.
On Saturday last, a minibus driver, subsequently identified as Quincy Trotman, 37, of Doch Four Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, allegedly also fled the scene after hitting down a 16-year-old pedal cyclist on the Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
