–following attempted murder of colleague fisherman
A FORTY-YEAR-OLD fisherman was, on Tuesday, released on $300,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce, via Zoom, at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court for attempted murder.
Joel Marks, who hails from the Essequibo Coast, was not required to plead to the charge which states that on March 22, 2021, at Mabaruma, he and another fisherman wounded 27-year-old Christof Bridgemohan, a colleague of theirs, with intent to commit murder.
According to reports, Bridgemohan, of Kumaka Waterfront, in Mabaruma, was so badly chopped about the body that they couldn’t keep him at the district’s hospital, but had to airlift him instead to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Word is that the police are currently on the hunt for the second suspect, while Marks is scheduled to return to court on May 18.
