ALIA Bhatt and her real life boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor have wrapped up shooting for Brahmastra, a fantasy trilogy that was supposed to have been released last December but like many other films, had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The upcoming Indian Hindi-language action fantasy film was written and directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar. It stars Kapoor and Bhatt in the lead roles, along with Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Mouni Roy and Dimple Kapadia.
“With the end of filming so near can’t help but look back on what a journey it has been so far on the film…and the excitement of what lies ahead is another journey altogether,” wrote Bhatt on her Instagram account a few days ago.

Director Mukerji had said that when the team started this movie, the first big question to answer was: ‘How do we create the moves for Shiva’s connection with Fire?’ “Fire being the centre of Shiva’s power in Brahm?stra… a power that comes from ancient Indians, from a deeply spiritual place, from within.”
Speaking about it in an Instagram post, he further said: “I had no reference point for what I had written…No comic books or existing story on which this was based… but for Shiva’s movements, we needed something that worked amazingly as action entertainment, but also had something deeper, something that was created from a very original

spiritual place. It was one of the great fortunes for the movie that I found.”
According to an article published on Television Network India Today, Ranbir is playing a man with superpowers named Shiva, while Alia’s character is called Isha. “It had been earlier reported that Mouni will be playing the role of the main villain in the film. The character details of other actors have been kept under the wraps,” India Today said.

“According to the Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma’s weapon is called Brahmastra and the title of the film has been derived from it. Speaking about his film, Ayan Mukerji had earlier told a news portal, ‘It’s a modern-day film set in India as it exists today. But the reason it’s called Brahmastra is that the energies, wisdom, powers in the film come from ancient India. That’s all I would say. There are some costumes, maybe not the way you’d expect them to be,’” the article further stated.
Fans of Ranbir and Alia, who like both their on-screen and off-screen chemistry, are in for a treat with Brahmastra, especially as the pair has been rumoured to be planning a wedding.
Several Indian media outlets have reported Ranbir as saying that had it not been for the pandemic, he and Alia would’ve already been married.
