POLICE are investigating the sudden death of a four-month-old of Siparuta, Corentyne River, East Berbice, Corentyne, on Wednesday.
According to the father of the child, Andrew Joseph, 30, a logger, on Wednesday, at around 11:00 hours, the infant began experiencing shortness of breath.
He explained that the child was put to sleep in a bed at their home and about 15 minutes after he checked on her and noticed that she was not breathing.
Subsequently, with the assistance of two officers and a village councillor, the child, accompanied by his parents was escorted to the Skeldon Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is at the Skeldon Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
