–Cricket to re-start next month in the Ancient County
GUYANA’s most prolific cricket organisation, the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), plans to hold some 30 tournaments at various levels next year.
The president of the BCB, Hilbert Foster, made the disclosure to representatives from several clubs, whom he met on Saturday last at the Albion Community Centre.
At the meeting, it was agreed by the board’s executive members and the clubs that the season, which was scheduled to start this Saturday with the U-15-semifinals between Port Mourant and Tucber Park Cricket Club, and on Sunday with the Mike’s Pharmacy U-15 final between Albion and Port Mourant, would be pushed forward by two weeks.
The decision was made to prepare the clubs mentally and physically for cricket under the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to information from the board’s PRO, Simon Naidu, “some clubs also suggested that the season restart with senior players”.
