Matarkai Sports Committee gets new chair

A new chairperson was voted in when the Matarkai Sports Committee held elections on Sunday afternoon at the Port Kaituma Community Centre in Region One.
Micquel Perez is the new chair. He replaces Sherlon Rodrigues, who did not seek re-election.
Meanwhile, Janice Moses was elected as vice-chair.

Linden Green was elected as Secretary, Rohilda Mendonca as Treasurer, Linden Green as Assistant Treasurer, Anetta Blair as Public Relations Officer and Rodrigues as Assistant Public Relations Officer.

One Committee member each was elected from Baramita, Matthews Ridge, Arakaka, Falls Top, Four Miles, Oronoque, One Mile, Citrus Grove, Canal Bank and Sebai.
The election was witnessed by the Matarkai NDC Chairman, Mr. Orlando Thorne and RDC Councillor, Ms. Margaret Lambert.

According to Rodrigues, the new Executive hit the ground running as the team visited Citrus Grove Playfield. They were joined by the Regional Engineer and NDC Overseer, since work is expected to commence soon. Some $1M was given to the Community by the RDC for ground enhancement.

The Matarkai Sports Committee was formed on July 30, 2015 and organises sporting activities including football, cricket and volleyball in the community.
