THE body of a pastor was found floating in a creek next to his farm at Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara (WBD), police said.
Dead is Maurice Wilson, 53, of Vauxhall Canal Number Two Polder, WBD. He reportedly drowned on Thursday afternoon.
The man’s wife told investigators that her husband, who is also a farmer, suffered from epilepsy.
Police said the pastors’ wife, 50-year-old Shundell Wilson, indicated that she followed her husband by foot up to L’Oire Back Dam, where he continued his journey on foot by himself en-route to his farm which is situated about 180 rods from the Number one Canal Road.
She said she returned to their residence but at about 18:40 hours, she became worried about her husband’s wellbeing after he did not return home and contacted a family friend who immediately dispatched a search party.
At about 19:15 hours while making checks, the body of the 53-year-old man was found floating face downwards in a creek at the western side of farm.
The search party contacted the family of the deceased who removed his body from the creek and summoned the police to the scene.
No marks of violence were seen on the exposed parts of the body. Police are continuing their investigations.
