Police are investigating an alleged shooting committed on Ayesha George, a 38-year-old vendor of Lindy Avenue, Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara, allegedly by a boat captain of Victory Valley, Linden, who is presently being sought.

Police, in a release, said the incident occurred on 2020-02-15 about 13:30h at Purini Landing, Mazaruni River. Enquiries revealed that the victim and the suspect are known to each other as they both work on Puruni Landing, Mazaruni River. The victim stated that about the time mentioned, she left her clothes stand in care of a friend and was heading to a shop to make a purchase when she heard a loud explosion and immediately felt a burning sensation to her left side buttocks.

She was rushed to the Bartica Public Hospital where she was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and later referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Her condition is listed as stable.
