THE Caribbean Institute of Forensic Accounting (CIFA) Guyana Incorporated hosted its official launch at the Herdmanston Lodge on January 31, 2020. In attendance were the partners Chetram Ramdihal, CEO of CIFA-Guyana and Stephon Grey, Founder of CIFA & Director of CIFA Consulting Limited.

Speaking at the launch, Founder of CIFA & Director of CIFA Consulting Limited, Stephon Grey stated, “The Caribbean is suffering a lot of losses due to corruption and we recognise the need for forensic accounting in the Caribbean. There were countries that had a lot of money in the Caribbean and now they cannot put a budget together…we see a lot of Financial Intelligence Units, Auditor General agencies, asset recovery… however we are short, practically non-existent on prosecution and civil asset recovery, but we spend a lot of money between CIFA-managed cases and individual experts, we never lost a court case.”
CIFA Guyana will be offering services in the field of forensic auditing and accounting, fraud auditing, asset tracing & recovery, investigations, due diligence, procurement audits, document examination, process re-engineering, computer forensics and data recovery, contract compliance auditing, anti-money laundering compliance services, fraud risk and loss management and forensic and anti-fraud training.

According to Grey, the Caribbean Institute of Forensic Accounting (CIFA) was established in Trinidad & Tobago in 2008 and remains the only Caribbean-based institute dedicated to providing training in anti-fraud and forensic accounting throughout the Region.
He explained that CIFA has provided training to industry professionals in approximately one hundred organisations spanning eleven (11) Caribbean territories. Additionally, CIFA collaborates with the Forensic CPA Society of the USA to prepare students for examinations leading towards the FCPA™ (Forensic Certified Public Accountant) designation.
CIFA has provided training to industry professionals in approximately 100 organisations spanning 11 Caribbean territories.

He also disclosed that CIFA has conducted successful investigations in places such as Grenada, Ethiopia, China and many other countries, both regionally and internationally, and serves to boast that they have never lost a court case. Mr. Grey was pleased to announce that within a few weeks CIFA will have its office in London operational to add to the list of offices in Trinidad, Dominica, St Kitts, Guyana, St. Vincent, Jamaica, St Lucia, Barbados & Suriname.
