President David Granger on Tuesday afternoon, received from Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Karen Cummings a pin and flag which represents Guyana’s chairmanship of the Group of seventy-seven (G77).
The Head of State was also presented with a painting, a gift from the Palestinian Delegation which chaired G77 in 2019. Earlier this month, Guyana assumed the Chair of the G77. The Prime Minister who headed Guyana’s delegation, represented President Granger at the United Nations handing over ceremony in New York. Guyana’s chairmanship coincides with the nation’s Republic jubilee and the United Nations seventy-fifth anniversary. Guyana’s election as G77 Chair demonstrates the country’s good standing and capacity to effectively undertake responsibilities at the highest levels of the international community.
